Bryce Miller

"Every Monday, my high school Spanish teacher would tell us about his weekend hiking," says Bryce Miller. "Several of us said that sounded like fun."

And Bryce's love of the outdoors was born. Years later, he's still exploring nature as often as he can. He loves hiking, camping, and skiing. "Unless it's raining," he says, laughing, "I'd rather not have a roof over my head."

Bryce went on to become an assistant leader on many Sierra Club trips throughout the Southwest. "The Sierra Club has so many wonderful people," he says. "It's just one of the many reasons I'm proud to be involved."

He's especially passionate about Sierra Club Inspiring Connections Outdoors program. It introduces underserved kids to the outdoors to improve their lives and inspire them to appreciate and protect nature.

"Our children are the ones who are going to ensure that our lands are protected in the future," Bryce says.

Always a nature lover, Bryce finds himself thinking more long term now. "I love the motto ‘Explore, Enjoy, and Protect,'" he says. "When I was young, I cared only about the first two. But as I've gotten older, I realize how important preservation is."

That's why Bryce has left a generous legacy gift in his will for Sierra Club. Then he went a step further and set up a charitable gift annuity to benefit his loved ones. "It's a nice way to give to Sierra Club Foundation and to generate steady income," Bryce says. "By funding these gifts with appreciated stock, there were tax benefits as well. Sierra Club staff made it such an easy process."

Now Bryce's love for nature is part of his life story forever.
